Srinagar, Apr 01 (KNO): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian & Sopore and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in Shopian, a police team at a checkpoint established at Imamsahib Chowk, noticed a person in suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. During the search, a Heroine-like substance weighing approximately 6.20 grams was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Adil Ahmad Makroo resident of Khudwani Rehpora Kulgam.
In Sopore, during patrolling at Neharpora–Shalimar Link Road, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. During search, Charas-like substance and Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Majeed Shah son of Abdul Majeed Shah resident of Neharpora Sopore.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
